Welcome to kapturlight.com and thank you for visiting my website.
My Name is Michael Petersen and this site was created to introduce you to my fine art photography and photographic services.
My passion is for fine art landscape photography, and I take great pride in being a photographer who takes advantage of all the latest and greatest developments. Beyond that, however, I distinguish myself by always demanding more of my work and by seeking to capture the natural world with high levels of vigor and imagination. Of course, nothing is the same in the digital era as it was before. From the tools that I use to the techniques that define my work, I am operating on a distinctly modern plane.I am never exactly sure where reality ends and my imagination begins, and I like it that way. Although I am intent on preserving the integrity of reality in my work, I am also eager to get as creative as possible in order to tell these stories in images more fully. When I get behind my camera, I am really getting in front of my canvas.
This is the way that I create my art, spotting an image that I want to make my own and then angling the lens just right, snapping the shutter at the perfect moment, and using advanced processing software to manipulate the image into something that fits my vision.I do this, of course, for you, my audience. If you are happy with my work, then I am happy too. I also offer workshops and photographic tours, local tours taking a minimum of 2 people to different locations, such as the very popular Sunrise Tour that starts early in the morning to capture the atmosphere of the mystical Tableland light. To book one of my photographic tours to Cooktown or the Atherton Tableland, go to Contact. Pickup from your accommodation can be arranged.
All these images are available for purchase on this site by going to the Shop. There are many more images and sizes available than those that are displayed on this site. Any image can be customised to any size. A small selection of framed prints and canvases are available at the Yungaburra Artistree Gallery
“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” Ansel Adams
